First visit

Your first visit

About 45 minutes: a talk, an exam and, if your doctor recommends it, a first adjustment.

You tell your doctor about your health in person. This website never asks for health details, and the contact form says so.

What to bring

Nothing to fill out ahead of time. Bring what you have.

  • Your card

An HSA or FSA card if you use one, or any card, cash or a check.

  • A list of what you take

Medicines and supplements, so your doctor knows them.

  • Notes or imaging reports

Anything from another provider that you already have.

  • Questions

Write them down. Your doctor will go through each one.

In the room, in order

  1. 01

Step 1: Welcome and the estimate

We go over the written estimate you were sent.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A talk

Your doctor listens first and asks about your goals.

  3. 03

    Step 3: An exam

A hands-on exam of how you move. X-rays only when medically necessary.

  4. 04

Step 4: The plan and the risks

Your doctor explains what they found, what they suggest, what it costs and what its risks are. Rare serious problems have been reported after neck adjustments, so your doctor explains the risks before any neck adjustment, and you can say no to any part of a visit.

  5. 05

Step 5: An adjustment, if you agree

Only if your doctor recommends it and you say yes. You can stop at any point.

  6. 06

    Step 6: Checkout and receipt

You pay for the visit and leave with an itemized receipt.

First visit questions

What happens at my first visit?

You talk with your doctor, then have an exam. If your doctor recommends it, you may have a first adjustment the same day. A first visit takes about 45 minutes. You leave with an itemized receipt and a plan for what comes next.

Do I need x-rays?

Not always. X-rays are taken only when medically necessary, and your doctor explains why before one is taken. They are quoted separately from the visit.

What if I have already seen another provider?

Bring any notes or imaging reports you have and tell your doctor who else is caring for you. Your doctor works alongside them and refers you to a physician when that is the right next step.
